Yes, I really was a Girl Scout. I started as a Brownie and finished as a Senior. I learned many things during that time- how to build a fire, how to identify edible foods in ‘the wild’ (meaning not in a grocery store), macramé, the art of crafting the perfect s’more and every word of “Little Bunny Foo Foo”. I also learned that as much as I loved those cookies I was never going to desire a sales career.
There were two things the Girl Scouts drilled in to our heads from the beginning that not only have served me well but are universally true in every conceivable situation. As of yet, I have not found a single situation where they do not apply.

There is information everywhere…Books, blogs, vlogs, pod casts, talk shows…on how to attempt this. It was in a quiet conversation with a friend that I realized it didn’t come to me in that big way. It came to me in little tiny bits. Sometimes so tiny they might go unnoticed if I wasn’t paying attention. Rarely do I get it from a grand event with lightning strikes or trumpets or fireworks. I have never been a fan of the New Year’s resolutions.
They seem like societal peer pressure. We do it because all the cool kids are doing it. And 88% fail anyway. While that is a statistic that means nothing unless it’s about your resolutions, who wants to start a brand new year with the overwhelming odds of failure. It’s kind of sadistic.
